Whiteheathers garden is Weeley blooming

August 28, 2018

The Chairperson of Weeley Residents Association, Angela Barnes, contacted our residential learning disability service, Whiteheathers in Clacton earlier this year to enquire whether they might like to join members of the local community in their bid for recognition in the Anglia in Bloom annual competition. Specifically, they asked whether people supported at Whiteheathers might be interested in helping them to plant a tree in the services front garden.

Stephen who is supported by the team at Whiteheathers, shared that he would be more than happy to help them and so the team made Angela aware that they had just the man for the job!

Angela arrived with a small “Catalpa” tree, and so Stephen, supported by Derek, the Team Leader at Whiteheathers assisted her by digging the hole ready to plant the tree. Stephen thoroughly enjoyed the experience, helping to put compost around the tree for good measure.

Everyone posed for photos of the event and both Stephen and The Weeley Residents Association were ecstatic with the finished article.

Since the tree has been planted Stephen has continued to regularly water it and with small growth now visible it is coming along nicely.

Anglia in Bloom Awards ceremony will take place on the 12th September 2018 in Bury St Edmunds.
