Tushmore Lane hosts Marie Curie Tea Party
Freshly brewed tea and home baked cookies and cakes were on the menu at Tushmore Lane this week when as they hosted a fundraising tea party for the community.
The event, which was organised by the staff and people supported at the Crawley service, was meticulously planned to ensure that everything went according to plan. A guest list was drawn up and invitations to family members and residents who live locally to Tushmore Lane were written and posted to by the individuals supported. They decided to make cakes and cookies for the event and on the morning itself they went shopping for ingredients.
Everyone had jobs to do – from serving tea and coffee to offering the cakes and cookies to guests. The guests arrived throughout the afternoon; some choosing to sit in the garden and enjoy the summer sunshine, whilst others relaxed in the lounge.
A grand total of £65 was raised for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity, but there was no time to celebrate as everyone set to work again, clearing away the plates and tidying up the house.
