Having recently won ‘Garden of the Year’ at the Caring Homes Group Internal Recognition Awards 2019, the team at Supported Living service, Norwich Road in Ipswich, decided what better way to celebrate then to throw an amazing summer garden party and invite everyone around to enjoy it!

Held on 31st of July, the event featured special guest Barny Holmes, a runner-up in The Voice UK, who treated party goers to a rendition of “I’ve got sunshine” by the temptations, which he also performed during his original audition on the popular ITV show.

In addition to Barny, there was plenty of other entertainment including, Disney favourite Mickey Mouse, Punch and Judy, face painting, and traditional garden games such as Jenga, an egg and spoon race and coconut shy.

DJ Tommy was on hand to keep the music flowing throughout the day and supported individual, Elliott donned his fury suit, Ivory and made everyone smile.

The event was attended by supported individuals and colleagues from six of Consensus’ Ipswich services, including fellow Supported Living Services, Redan Street, Mersey Road and Oban Street; Residential Service, Belstead Villa; and Children’s and Young Person’s Service, Belstead Mews.

Other guests included neighbours, staff from the local Tesco’s and individuals and their families from New South West, (part of Leading Lives,) which brought the total number of people enjoying the fabulous festivities up to 102!

Registered Manager, Shayne Mills said, “Since we revamped the garden at Norwich Road, it has become the heart of our service and somewhere the team, supported individuals and their families and friends all love to spend time together socially. With the warm weather we thought a garden party would be the perfect way to bring everyone together as well as extend that enjoyment to our other Ipswich services and the wider community.”

“We were delighted by the turn out on the day. It was great to see everyone really getting into the spirit of things; getting involved in the games, enjoying the music and making new friends. I’m really proud of everyone at Norwich Road for the time and effort they put into making the day so special.”
