We see the person first, the behaviour second
The needs of many of the people we support require specialist interventions and dedicated support. That’s why we invest in expert teams who are able to support any Consensus service anywhere in the country, whenever they are needed.
Our specialist team are involved at the individual’s initial assessment if the individual has autism or displays behaviour that may be considered challenging. They also provide on-going support for that person as and when it is required. The team also supports colleagues with training, giving them strategies and support for managing behaviour that others may find challenging.
Positive Behaviour Intervention Team
One of our specialist teams is the Positive Behaviour Intervention Team (PBIT). The team is trained in specialist approaches, such as applied behavioural analysis and positive behaviour support. The team take a quality of life approach to understanding why someone may present as challenging and identify strategies to reduce the frequency and/or severity of challenging behaviour.
