Our new Bespoke Service in Lancashire is Now Open

One of the challenges for commissioners in Lancashire has been to identify a provision in the community that can meet the needs of individuals with very complex needs, who are, in the main, being discharged from long-stay hospitals. Pendle Gardens is one of the first models of its kind in Lancashire and has been developed as a bespoke service for adult males with learning disabilities and additional complex needs looking to remain in their local area. Providing individualised flats within a residential service, Pendle Gardens supports individuals to have a greater level of independence and a meaningful life.

“The vision for Pendle Gardens is to offer people from Lancashire an opportunity to have a home in the local community, to enable people to be discharged from long stay hospitals and to build valued and meaningful lives in the community.”

Providing an opportunity to live more independently…

The service has been designed to meet the particular needs of individuals who may come under what was formerly known as the Transforming Care Agenda. These can include people stepping down from secure settings or hospital environments, or equally those who may be living in the community but require intensive person-centred support to avoid the risk of admission. The service ensures that once individuals are discharged from hospital that their placements in the community don’t break down, offering them the chance to live independently, often for the first time!

“This is the first time Peter and I can meet, chat and cook together in his own flat!”
