May 23, 2016

Consensus Manager Sharon Jones at Parklands one of our homes in Wales, has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

The awards first established in 2003 by Care Forum Wales, seek to reward the champions in the sector and raise public awareness of the vital contribution made by the social care workforce.

Sharon is in the running for ‘Leadership and Management in Care – Supported Living’ category at the Wales Care Awards said: “Well my initial thoughts to being short listed were, wow this is amazing it’s nice to think that we are so highly thought of. It would be great to win, as we hear so much negativity within the care sector and not enough of the good that goes on. I am feeling incredibly positive we have made it through to this shortlist.”

Nominating Sharon for the award her colleagues said: “It is Sharon’s positive attitude and her dedication to providing the individuals at Parklands with only the highest quality of care and support, which has led the whole team at Consensus to collectively nominate her for an award.”

They continued, “Colleagues at Parklands follow by Sharon’s example, as she is always on the floor and would never ask a colleague to do something they haven’t seen her do herself.”

Sharon, lives in Rogiet, working with people with both learning disabilities and complex needs and holds the QCF Level 5 in Management and the City and Guilds Registered Manager Award RMA (Adults) Level 4.

She has been in the care sector for over 16 years and has been the Home Manager at Parklands for over four. Initially starting off in the sector as a Support Worker, Sharon worked her way up to become a Team Leader, and subsequently began taking on Manager Responsibilities.

At Parklands, Sharon and her colleagues support five women with multiple disabilities, who are all wheelchair-bound. Under Sharon’s outstanding leadership and dedication to providing only the highest quality of care and support, Parklands has achieved full compliance with the CSSIW, and achieved 93 per cent during an in-house audit.

The 2016 winners will be named at a glittering ceremony at City Hall, Cardiff on Friday 21st October 2016.
