Our very own ‘Rising Star’ – Gemma

November 22, 2022

We’re delighted to share that Gemma Lloyd, Deputy Manager at Weston Villa, has reached the finals of the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care awards, taking place in London on 30 November 2022.

Joining Consensus in 2018 as a support worker, working with individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome, Gemma has worked relentlessly to care for and nurture not only the people who live at Weston Villa, but her colleagues too. She has had such a positive influence on the team and has been instrumental in implementing improvements in the service. Her proactive, forward-thinking attitude during the most challenging of times sets a fantastic example to those around her.

Gemma said “I feel honoured to have been nominated by colleagues for this award. I have a great passion for the service and the people who live here. I think that drives me to ensure that I’m always able to provide the highest standard of care – and support the team in doing so too.”

Chris Gell, Operations Manager, said “This is more than just a job to Gemma. Everything she does is focused on ensuring the people who live at Weston Villa enjoy the life that they want to live. It’s clear to everyone who has worked with Gemma just how much of a star she truly is.”

Despite being new to a management role, she has embraced this learning curve, called upon her in depth knowledge of the service and the people we support, and has continued to grow and thrive in her role at the service.

Emma Painter, Service Manager at Weston Villa, added, “Managing a complex, challenging service such as Weston Villa means that having someone as committed, trustworthy and talented as Gemma supporting me is very important. She is truly deserving of this nomination, and I’m looking forward to cheering her on as she hopefully picks up the Rising Star award!”

Wishing Gemma all the luck in the world at the awards ceremony – we’re so proud of you, and grateful for all you give to #TeamConsensus.
