Nnn..ice day out!

December 11, 2018

People we support from our Services Weston Villa and Henson Court in Kettering enjoyed some festive fun on the ice this week, when they were supported to visit Beckworth Emporium in Mears Ashby, where a special session was hosted enabling people with disabilities to enjoy the winter wonderland.

Everyone wrapped up warm for the day. Some took to the ice in wheelchairs, being guided by support workers who were only too happy to get on the ice too, whilst others took grippers, placed them onto their own shoes and safely skated their way round the rink.

With lighting and music added to the mix there is plenty to absorb in the enormous indoor ice rink.

For Dale it was extra special as this was his very first time on ice. He too was provided with ice grippers to place onto his shoes which gave him stability when on the rink.

Thoroughly enjoying this unique experience, particularly snow which was falling in the middle of the rink, he asked staff if they could turn it on again for him! A great success, Dale says he will definitely be visiting again.

After a full morning on the ice everyone then enjoyed a nice warm lunch in the café.
