Liz scoops a national award as Registered Nurse of the Year
Liz Smith who is Service Manager at local residential service, The Gables, in Littleport near Ely, has won a top award this week at the Caring Homes Group Recognition Awards.
With over 5,500 employees across the group the home beat off stiff competition to be recognised with an award as ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ in Consensus, as part of the Caring Homes Group. The awards were presented at a glittering ceremony hosted within the Grove Hotel in Watford and presented by Ronan Keating.
Following a review of over 3,000 nominations received from colleagues and people supported for the awards, Liz was felt to be a deserving winner.
Operations Manager, Mark Whiteley, said; “Liz Smith is the definition of excellence in the field of nursing. Her unwavering effort is unique and her dedication deserves formal recognition. Liz has also recently been shortlisted for a second year running in the National learning disabilities and autism awards.”
Liz has been employed by Consensus who own The Gables for over seven years and a qualified Nurse since 1975, working in a variety of fields including emergency nursing. Throughout her career, Liz has always advocated for the individuals she supports, her values are exemplary. Liz is dedicated to life-long learning, developing herself and her team, and last year completed her QCF 5 in Leadership and management.
The Gables is a welcoming, friendly residential service with nursing for 16 individuals with learning disabilities and complex nursing needs, including palliative care.
Attended by over 340 guests the evening was a great occasion, with colleagues and business partners coming together to celebrate the very best care and support provided by outstanding people.
