Links Macmillan coffee morning

November 14, 2017

One Friday in September the Links Day Care Centre held a Macmillan coffee morning to help support Macmillan cancer care.

All supported individuals and colleagues put their thinking caps together to make a cake at their homes the evening before in preparation for the ‘Bake off’ contest.  Some even found a new talent in themselves that they didn’t know they had!

Everyone was impressed with the effort that went into making the cakes and how scrummy they all were.

Everyone at the Links were involved, making the coffee morning such a great success. They did leaflet drops locally, put a poster up in the town centre and local shops, the Mayor even came along to see and support everyone at the day centre.

Everyone had a job, helping on the day, Jennifer on photography, Joanne on ‘Guess the height of the cake’ game, Jenny assisted with the raffle and Laura lent a hand with the hot drinks and cakes.

A great time was had with lots of tea, cake, raffle prizes, guessing the height of the cake and ‘Bake off’ contest.

We all met new people, had lots of laughs with other supported people and colleagues came in on their days off too.  The Mayor and Mayoress of Wellingborough came along to choose the best cake in show, which was won by Janette from Brambles House and winner of the ‘guess the height of the cake contest was Trish.

We managed to raise a total of £118.95 for Macmillan cancer care.  All supported individuals had a great time and the team were very pleased with the amount of support shown by everyone.
