Liam wins Frontline Leaders Award at the Great British Care Awards in Wales

February 7, 2022

Many congratulations to Liam Lewis, Service Manager at Parklands in Newport, who is a worthy winner of the Frontline Leaders Award at the Wales regional final of the Great British Care Awards.

This award is given to a supervisor, senior care worker, team leader or a first-time manager who has shown clear commitment to improving the delivery of care and support within their team. Liam stood out for the judges as someone who has shown his leadership qualities by reflecting on what could be better for his colleagues and all of the individuals they support, then inspiring others to innovate and bring about positive change as a result.

Also nominated as regional finalists were the entire team from Parklands, in the Care Team Award category, together with the team from The Hollies at Ty Hendy in Carmarthenshire. Parklands provides residential support and accommodation for adults with profound multiple learning disabilities and additional complex needs including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, physical disabilities, visual and hearing impairment and sensory loss. People with dementia and profound needs are supported at The Hollies, one of three specialist person-centred settings at Ty Hendy.

Other Consensus colleagues joining Liam for the Awards Evening in Cardiff on Friday, 4 February, were Sharlotte Cutts, Team Co-ordinator at Ty Machen in Machen, Caerphilly, who was another nominee for the Frontline Leaders Award, and Andrea Nash of Pool Cottage, Newport, nominated for the Manager Award.

Well done to Sharlotte, Andrea and the teams at Parklands and The Hollies for reaching this regional final, and gaining much-deserved recognition for the great work that you do. We were also delighted that Consensus was once again nominated for the Care Employer Wales award, after winning in this category of the Great British Care Awards for the East of England region.

Liam will be heading to Birmingham next month for the National Final on 18 March, to represent Consensus in the Frontline Leaders category, together with our regional winners in three other award categories:

  • Liz Smith, Service Manager at The Gables in Ely – Social Care Nurse Award, East of England
  • Consensus – Care Employer Award, East of England
  • Rachel Roberts, Team Leader at Kingarth in Manchester – The Frontline Leaders Award, North West

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector.  The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work. In total, Consensus fielded 19 shortlisted finalists across eight award categories in five regions for the 2021 GBCA accolades.
