Kingston House hosts popular ‘Polish Party’

May 23, 2014

Kingston House threw its doors open for another fun-filled day for families, friends and health professionals this week. The house hosts a themed celebration each year, and this year’s Polish party certainly proved a popular one!

Some of the team’s Polish staff cooked some traditional food including Kapuśniak (cabbage soup), Gołąbki (boiled cabbage leaves stuffed with pork mince and rice), Fasolka po bretońsku  (bean and sausage stew) and Szarlotka (apple pie with meringue). Whilst outside there was a barbeque of Polish sausages and chicken with horseradish mustard, for those who wanted to enjoy the sunshine.

The staff and individuals supported had been busy in the lead up to the event, with the house awash with red and white Polish flags, printed pictures and historical information about Poland. The colourful day was completed by the children of the staff, who all dressed up in traditional Polish costumes, before performing a traditional dance to polish music.

The occasion was also marked by a prize giving ceremony for the Kingston House staff team. Everyone had been secretly voting on a range of categories in recent months, with the winners presented with certificates and prizes during the party.
