Introducing Lawrence Charamba, Registered Manager of Bear Road

March 27, 2018

After years as a civil servant and legal professional, Lawrence changed direction in 2001, when he embarked on a career in social care. Being able to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives has always motivated him, feeling rewarded when individuals he supports make progress and attain the best possible outcomes and achieve their potential.

Within his first five years he had made the transition from Support Worker to Service Manager and then joined Consensus as the Manager of Bear Road, in the London Borough of Hounslow.

After gaining further valuable experience at other Consensus services; The Grove and King Edwards Grove, as well as engaging in operations and business development roles for other providers, Lawrence has come full circle and is once again back with Consensus as Manager of Bear Road.

Lawrence says that he enjoys leading his team, mentoring them, sharing best practice and ensures that together they support individuals and empower them to improve the quality of their lives.

As the Manager of Bear Road he has established a good rapport with the supported individuals in the service. His goal is to continuously work with individuals, relatives and stakeholders to improve the service and he finds his experience in the service to be hugely positive. Believing that team work and consistency are key to overcoming challenges, Lawrence loves to lead by example and in so doing is able to share his knowledge and experience with the team by making the potentially impossible, become a reality.

Lawrence’s plans are focussed around further positive developments being implemented within the service thus ensuring that it becomes a flagship service, putting people’s needs at the heart of everything it does and ultimately to be rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC. He plans to do this by creating a strong team, implementing practical strategies to manage challenges and ensuring that CQC requirements are not just met but exceeded.
