Gretton Homes sponsor PWS Conference
Gretton Homes were joint headline sponsors at the PWS Association’s National Conference in Derby on the 13th and 14th September. The event was attended by many parents and providers, who listened to presentations by several leading figures including Professor Tony Holland from the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge and Dr Susanne Blichfeldt, Paediatric Senior Consultant specialising in neuropaediatrics and PWS from Denmark.
A number of the Gretton Homes staff team attended professional workshops throughout the weekend, culminating in Caroline White and Margaret Elliot, service Managers from Perrywood House and Heatherington House respectively, delivering a presentation about PWS options for living away from home.
Many of the Gretton Homes service users also attended the adults programme on the Sunday and had an enjoyable time taking part in the range of activities that were organised by the PWSA and their volunteers. Gretton Homes’ PWS Liaison Officer Myles Kelly said:
“This was the first annual PWS Conference for several years and we were proud to be joint sponsors of it. Of particular interest was the presentation on the latest research into the many facets of PWS, in particular the eating behaviour. I know from talking to several of our service users they also thoroughly enjoyed the adults programme on the Sunday.”
