Consensus Proud to Contribute to The Autism Show 2019, ExCeL London
Consensus are pleased to be supporting and contributing to the programme at the Autism Show, ExCeL London on Friday, 14th and Saturday, 15th June 2019.
The event is the largest specialist event for Autism in the UK, attracting around 4,500 people each year. Attendees include individuals with autism, parents, carers and health and social care professionals, all looking to gain the most up to date information, advice, products and services relating to the support of those with autism.
In our fourth year of attending, the Consensus team will be providing advice and guidance on support and accommodation for people with autism at Stand C7. Dr Margaret Wilson (Dr Mags), Autism Consultant for Consensus, will be available to answer questions specifically related to autism and will also be presenting “Social Inclusion? No thanks” at The Hub, Theatre 2, Friday 14th June, 2.30 – 2.50pm.
Dr Mags has specialised in supporting people with Autism for over 30 years and since 2007 has played a central role in providing specialist support and intervention for adults and young people with autism living in Consensus residential and supported living services.
During the presentation, Dr Mags will explore the evolution of the ‘Social Inclusion’ model and how it shapes support services for autistic people. Key discussion points will include how support teams need to enable people to make informed choices about how they live their lives without having to conform to a neurotypical ‘norm’ and how parents and support workers can support people with autism to develop the skills to make real choices.
Places are offered on a first come, first served basis, so those wishing to attend the presentation are advised to arrive as early as possible before the session starts to save disappointment.
