Consensus achieves outstanding success at the Wales Care Awards 2016
Consensus is extremely proud to announce that three colleagues scooped top Awards in their categories at the 14th Annual Wales Care Awards at Cardiff’s City Hall. The awards first established in 2003 by Care Forum Wales, seek to reward the champions in the sector and raise public awareness of the vital contribution made by the social care workforce.
Care Forum Wales chair, Mario Kreft, says: “These people really are the heroes of social care and these awards are so important in celebrating the excellent practice in social care.”
Lynda Wenner and Lorraine Jackson received Gold Awards in their categories whilst Sharon Jones earned an outstanding Silver Award in hers.
All three are Home Managers for Consensus and were selected as finalists for the prestigious awards. Regional Trainer Rachel Harrison, was also shortlisted to interview and was awarded a certificate of Commendation at the glittering awards ceremony on Friday 21st October.
Lynda who lives in Newport, won the ‘Promoting fulfilled lives’ category. She has worked in the caring profession for the last 26 years and has been in charge of the specialised Ty Machen residential home for the past five years, she prides herself on the strong family atmosphere she has created there with the individuals they support.
Lynda said: “I feel very proud to have won this award and I’m also very proud of the service and my team. I have one of the best jobs in the world.”
Lorraine won her award for ‘Leadership in Residential Care Services’. Lorraine who lives in Tynewydd, Whitchurch, Cardiff, has worked in the caring profession since she was 17 and in the learning disability sector for the past 11 years. She has been the Manager at Ty Hendy, since August, 2015.
She was nominated for the award by Simon Kezic, the company’s head of strategy, who spoke highly of her “Lorraine’s emphasis on supporting people to live with dignity has played a major part in changing the lives of so many. Lorraine places the utmost importance on having an “open door and an open heart”. She leads by example, and has cultivated a hardworking team which has a consistent approach to care provision.”
Sharon was awarded Silver for ‘Excellence in Learning Disability and Mental Health Services’.
Sharon Home Manager at Parklands in Malpas Newport, lives in Rogiet and has been in the care sector for over 16 years and has been the Home Manager for over four. Nominating Sharon for the award her colleagues said: “It is Sharon’s positive attitude and her dedication to providing the individuals at Parklands with only the highest quality of care and support, which has led the whole team at Consensus to collectively nominate her for an award.”
Sharon said; “I feel so proud to have won this award and a huge thanks to our staff team at Parklands for their dedication and commitment in providing a high standard to care to the ladies we support.”
