‘Charity PJ Day’ at Heather Holmes
The staff and people we support at Heather Holmes helped to raise valuable funds for a children’s charity recently thanks to a fun-filled ‘Charity PJ Day’.
The service had been contacted by Sunny Days Children’s Fund, which raises money to support children with a wide range of adverse medical conditions including Leukaemia, Cerebral Palsy and terminal illnesses, to ask if they would like to hold a fundraising event for the worthwhile cause.
Heather Holmes manager Vikki Hayes said:
“We had a discussion about the type of activity we could do, which generated some great (if not necessarily practical) ideas, including skydiving with One Direction! One of the less popular ideas was a sponsored silence, but after some debate Helena Randall, who lives at Heather Holmes, came up with the idea of a sponsored Pyjama day.
We wanted to raise money for a great cause in an unusual and ultimately memorable way, which is why we chose to dress in our pyjamas.
It was great fun, with the staff team sharing stories of odd looks received on their commute to work and some people even wearing their pyjamas on a shopping trip to Corby!”
The staff and individuals raised a total of £50 by wearing a range of amusing sleepwear for the whole day, including cartoon themed pyjamas and colourful ‘onesies’, all accompanied with comfy slippers.
