Caring Joan scoops a national award for Ancillary Worker of the Year
Joan Perrin who works as a domestic at local residential service, The Heathers, in Kettering, has won a top award this week at the Caring Homes Group Recognition Awards.
With over 5,500 employees across the group the home beat off stiff competition to be recognised with an award as ‘Ancillary worker of the Year’ in Consensus, as part of the Caring Homes Group. The awards were presented at a glittering ceremony hosted within the Grove Hotel in Watford and presented by Ronan Keating.
Following a review of over 3,000 nominations received from colleagues and people supported for the awards, Joan was felt to be a deserving winner.
Service Manager, Chris Gell, said; “Joan is seen as one of the most important people at The Heathers and as the domestic is clearly an integral part of the team. Joan has worked at The Heathers for over 14 years and will soon be retiring. She always has a smile on her face, even when times are tough, which rubs off on other people, she brightens everyone’s day.
Joan is a lovely, helpful and caring person and will go out of her way to support anyone be it members of the support team or supported individuals. Nothing is ever too much trouble. She goes above and beyond her duties and often helps out with direct support helping her colleagues, something which they all greatly appreciate.”
The Heathers is a welcoming, friendly residential service for 12 individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs, including dementia.
Attended by over 340 guests the evening was a great occasion, with colleagues and business partners coming together to celebrate the very best care and support provided by outstanding people.
