A friendly, positive team provide person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.

Ty Machen is a short distance from Caerphilly and the city of Newport. There are six en-suite bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/diner, comfortable lounge, sensory/relaxation room, quiet room and a lovely sun terrace surrounds the bungalow. The rear garden has a vegetable plot where people can grow their own vegetables. There is a real home from home environment.

The people living at Ty Machen are encouraged to enjoy all the local leisure and social amenities, either on their own with support, or in groups. This includes swimming, bowling, cinema visits, eating out and trying new activities of their choice. The focus is on supporting people to achieve their goals and aspirations and whatever is important to them.

There is also a lot of support to learn new skills by attending college or by pursuing local work opportunities.

Individuals are actively involved in cooking and general household duties which increases their confidence with daily living skills and in taking responsibility for looking after their home.

Careful attention is given during the sensitive transition process to make individuals feel settled and happy in their new environment. This is gradual for some residents; a visit for dinner, a day visit or perhaps an overnight stay to help them feel at ease during the transition process.

Views & Opinions

Ty Machen provides my relative with an excellent quality of life. The level of care is first class and he is so much happier here than he has ever been. He enjoys a full programme of varied activities which also stimulates him. The staff are constantly in communication with me and I have no concerns whatsoever.
