Some individuals have additional needs such as epilepsy and may express behaviours which others may find challenging.

Smugglers Barn is full of character and 17th century charm.  The surrounding area is quite rural, but there are excellent transport links nearby to the towns of East Grinstead, Tunbridge Wells, Crawley and Caterham providing lots of opportunities for social and leisure activities.

With a homely, secure and caring atmosphere the team live by our person centred values.  The focus is helping individuals to enjoy activities of their choice, try new activities which match their goals and to have a good quality of life. They attend social clubs, the nearby farm, specialist sports and health clubs and enjoy nature walks and the nearby Garden centre.

Individuals living at Smugglers Barn also love to take ownership of organising social events, BBQs, tea parties, mini festivals and other social activities with those living at another service very nearby called Little Smugglers. Visits from family members are encouraged and they are always welcome to join in the many events.

To help increase confidence with daily living skills, the team support individuals to help run the home and undertake domestic duties and garden maintenance.

The people I have placed at Smugglers Barn have all further developed their daily living skills since being there and have all progressed towards being more independent. People have been encouraged to attend activities that will not only help them develop their skills but also their own confidence.

The support plans are really person centered and detailed. We involve the person to make decisions on their support.
