A large detached, spacious house, bedrooms are spread over three floors and there is a large, pleasant garden with space for growing vegetables. There is a friendly, welcoming, multi-cultural environment where the focus is on providing person centred support to help individuals become as independent as possible and live their life in the way they choose.

Regular activities take place at the home such as arts and crafts, cooking, BBQs and parties where family members are always warmly welcomed. The team encourage individuals to enjoy leisure and social activities in nearby Ilford Shopping Centre, including trips to the large local park, swimming, bowling, shopping and going to local restaurants. With quick, excellent rail and underground routes into London, the service is ideally situated for individuals to pursue many activities and interests.

Burnham House also has good links with local religious centres, day centres and a local farm as well as a strong partnership with local Colleges where individuals have undertaken training to achieve NVQs in chosen courses.

Great importance is placed on learning new skills and helping everyone to take an active interest in the running of the home where they have their own responsibilities. This helps improve daily living skills and confidence and as greater independence is achieved, support plans are updated with the individual to maximise their choices and opportunities.

We are 95% compliant across inspectorate bodies, CQC, Ofsted, The Care Inspectorate Wales and The Scottish Care Inspectorate for residential and supported living care (Figure stated as at October 2022)

“As ever, the constructive comments of the CQC are welcomed and as reflected in the report, we have identified areas for improvement. We have an action plan in place and many improvements are being made.
The health and wellbeing of the individuals we support is our absolute priority, and the report recognises that the service is both caring and responsive, rating it ‘Good’ in both categories.

We are pleased that CQC identified that Burnham House is caring, stating that the individuals we support are well treated and supported and staff approached them in a compassionate way. We are also pleased to note that individuals we support told CQC that staff were kind and caring and said they were happy living at the service.

During the inspection, CQC also noted that the registered manager spoke in a caring and compassionate manner about all individuals supported at the service and demonstrated and understanding of their needs. Individuals we support were observed to be involved in making decisions about their care and support and staff adapted their approach to ensure that care was provided in a way that met their needs and wishes.

Our challenge is to ensure that we can consistently deliver and evidence that we are achieving the highest standards. The team at Burnham House are committed to every aspect of the services we provide being at a consistently high-quality level. We look forward to welcoming the CQC on their return visit, at which time we are confident that improvements will be evidenced.”
