Managing Director

I’ve worked in health and social care both for public and independent sector organisations for 25 years. I have managed and developed hospital and community based services focusing on supporting individuals with complex learning disabilities. I have also led large scale organisational change, including service re-provision, and managed the commissioning of new and innovative community based residential and supported living services across the UK.

I have been at Consensus for a decade now, helping it to grow and succeed. I’m very proud of the many things we have supported people to achieve, and I’m proud of the people who work for Consensus. I’m delighted that our efforts and successes are being recognised nationally.

Outside of work I… enjoy spending time with my family and friends and watching most sports – I’m a keen Norwich City fan. Recently I dusted off my old record collection and I’m enjoying spending time reliving my youth.

Mike Ranson

Development Director

My first care role was as a learning disability care assistant in a residential home. I discovered a passion for supporting people and seeing them progress and worked my way up, becoming a Registered Manager before moving into the procurement and commissioning of services. Before joining Consensus, I was a member of the senior management lead commissioning team for an NHS/local authority partnership commissioning service for people with learning disabilities.

In my role at Consensus I work with local authority and NHS commissioners to develop new and existing accommodation and support services all designed to support people with learning disabilities to be part of the wider community. We work closely with individuals and their families and advocates to ensure our services support their needs in the ways they want to be supported.

Outside of work I… do DIY, play golf, enjoy travelling and riding my motorbike.

I’m responsible for our operational activities that contribute to the high quality we provide.

I’ve worked in the social care sector for two decades now and have been everything from a support worker to a managing director! I enjoy the challenges that this sector offers and I thrive wherever I have the chance to transform lives.

I believe in getting to know an organisation from top to bottom, which means meeting staff and getting their feedback and ensuring they feel valued.

Outside of work I… play taxi to my three daughters, socialise with friends, play badminton or watch Celtic FC.

Tony Pickering

Business Support Manager

I trained as an accountant and initially worked in the transport industry. But for the past 15 years I’ve worked in the health and social care sectors, with over eight here at Consensus. I lead on all the commercial and business analysis aspects, which sees me working with colleagues across the business.

The learning disabilities sector is ever-changing and has its challenges but it’s rewarding to work with the Consensus team to solve them, and I look forward to that every day.
