Challenging Behaviour Support
Over the last three years Consensus has been developing a Positive Behaviour Intervention Team that brings an additional layer of specialist expertise to services across each of the regions where we provide support.
The team uses Applied Behaviour Analysis, a holistic and person-centred approach that seeks to find the cause and function of challenging behaviour. Focusing on the multiple factors that lead to challenging behaviour, the Positive Behaviour Team works in partnership with support staff to design a range of interventions, including proactive and reactive responses, teaching skills and life style changes.
Comprising four Behavioural Practitioners the team provides tailored advice in each and every aspect and stage of support. From developing new projects, to assessing referrals and ongoing assessments, the practitioners deliver additional expertise on interventions, staff training and consultancy.
The Lead Practitioner, Gail Fisher has over 34 years experience working with children and adults who have a learning disability. Using her extensive background in the field Gail also provides leadership developing strategies and policies on challenging behaviour and developing outreach support for services.
