‘Involving Everyone’ grant aids Links sensory room refurbishment
Staff at the Links Day Centre in Wellingborough were thrilled to unveil their new sensory room recently, following a short period of cosmetic refurbishment.
The project was possible thanks to a £4,015 grant received from the Northamptonshire Learning Disability Partnership Board through their ‘Involving Everyone’ scheme. Debbie Mitchell, Links Day Care Coordinator, applied for the grant and was thrilled to hear the news that they would be able to update the sensory room for the benefit of all the service users who visit the centre.
The room has a host of new features including a tactile UV panel and rug, an interactive bubble tube and a jellyfish fountain. In addition to the sensory equipment, new blinds, cushions and beanbags have added more comfort and relaxation for those using the area.
The centre has noticed a dramatic increase in people using the area, with many service users and relatives commenting on how much better the new environment is.
