Fun times at this years’ ‘Feel the Force Day’
Late in September a group of individuals and two colleagues from The Links Day Centre, in Wellingborough went to Peterborough for the annual “Feel the Force Day.”
This is a day set up country wide for all individuals with disabilities to meet and touch all of their favourite characters from TV and film.
Some individuals who attend The Links are supported to work at CTSR, a waste management service in Wellingborough and their tickets were generously donated by the company as a thank you for their continued hard work, as they are involved with the ‘Feel the Force’ events.
Luckily the sun was shining so they were able to take full advantage of all the exhibits outside, ranging from cars to food.
The highlight of the day was to see everyone’s delighted faces when they saw the characters that were all very responsive to each individual that wanted to speak with or touch them.
A couple of the individuals managed to get signed pictures of characters, being John Altman, who plays ‘Nasty Nick’ from Eastenders and ‘The voice of K9’ from Dr Who.
Everyone said that they had a fantastic day and can’t wait to return next year in October.
Individuals are encouraged to participate in activities at the The Links Day Centre as well as accessing the local community and are active in the running and maintenance of the Centre.
The team wholly support people to seek out local job opportunities, preparing them with relevant skills and support and currently work in partnership with two businesses in Wellingborough.
