Consensus Service Wins IHA Award

November 6, 2015

The residential care service Kingarth, which is located in Greater Manchester,  was presented with the best Specialist Care Provider of the Year Award a ceremony held at the Independent Healthcare Apex Secure and Specialist Care event on October 21st at the Brandon Hall Hotel in Warwickshire.

The IHA Awards are specially formulated to recognise and reward achievement in the Secure and Specialist Care Sectors. Kingarth supports individuals with learning disabilities and additional complex needs, providing an exceptional quality of service and support in the community to individuals who otherwise might be placed far away from their families. The innovative specification of this Learning Disability Nurse led service has helped commissioners to meet their responsibilities under the Transforming Care agenda  by enabling the move on of people ready to leave institutional settings.

Organising the awards was Peter Wedderburn from the IHA. He explains why Kingarth is such a worthy winner. He says: “Kingarth provides a step up step down service providing placements for users with learning disabilities. The team has developed a new model of care designed to combat the revolving doors syndrome whereby individuals often end up returning to hospital and other long term institutions following unsuccessful placements in community settings. With an exceptionally high standard of room design, robust risk assessment methodology and multi- disciplinary support plans delivered by specialist trained staff, Kingarth is definitely the worthy winners of this year’s title.”
