Consensus are pleased to be actively involved in the forthcoming Community Care Live Conference and Exhibition on 3 and 4 November at The Business Design Centre, London. An essential  learning and engagement opportunity for social workers, managers and commissioners, the event provides a full conference programme, a series of workshops and interactive training sessions relating to the everyday challenges faced by those working in the health and social care sector.  With eminent keynote speakers and dedicated streams for children’s services, adult services and management, sessions  include: The Care Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Tackling Radicalisation, Child Neglect and Integrated working,

On day one Consensus we will be running a workshop for the session 3.15 – 4.15pm on the topical subject of ‘Achieving a Reduction in Restrictive Physical Interventions’.  Led by Gail Fisher our accomplished Lead Behaviour Practitioner with over 20 years’ experience and Mike Ranson, Development Director for Consensus – the workshop considers the drivers for change in provision of care and support for adults who have learning disabilities and may challenge services in residential and supported living.  Gail will discuss the safety, efficacy and progress of national restraint guidance and what this means in practise for individuals, providers and commissioners.  Gail considers how a Positive Behaviour Support approach, complemented by robust staff training can reduce restrictive physical interventions and translate into meaningful outcomes for support services.  As part of NHS England’s Transforming Care Initiative, Mike will consider how providers must deliver solutions for Local Authorities and CCGs on how best to support vulnerable adults with highly complex needs.
